For Valor Christian, the Biggest Job May Be Managing the Eddie McCaffrey Buzz

HIGHLANDS RANCH , Colo. — Since December last year, the Eagles have followed a trajectory from coach less to one of the most intriguing teams in 5A.
The coaching carousel has been interesting since November and December, especially since many claimed to retire but then resurfaced at other vacancies.
Ed McCaffrey, who accepted the Valor coaching job in February, will coach his son Luke who is entering his senior season at Valor and will be the team’s starting quarterback. Luke recently announced his commitment to play college football at Nebraska.

I was called to serve and I will coach as long as they will have me, said Ed McCaffrey.” Eddie only has youth level coaching experience and the Buzz is he will lean on former NFL players to contribute like Brandon Ray Stokley whom has confirmed his participation via twitter.
On May 1st incoming freshmen had access to the coaches but May 29, 2018 was the official start to passing out equipment and the start of OTAs and/or summer camps. Each team has 10 days to get official work in during the off-season. Generally it’s 9 days followed by a scrimmage. However, some teams have opted to spend their last 3-4 days at a college team camp. However, in the past Valor has always had their own path for success that does not include a football scrimmage but a traditional 4 day work week.
Like many teams they organize some kind of summer throwing sessions with the skill position players. All leading up to a week one game. Most practices are open to the public so time will tell what the buzz will be during the inaugural Eddie the Eagle season.
The other way to look at it is as a reminder that 10-0 wasn’t quite as easy as it looked at the time in 2017. After an easy round one win and round two loss the rumors of head coach Rod Sherman became real on December 21, 2017 when the HC resigned. Two moths later Sherman became the new HC at neighboring Arapahoe HS on February 16, 2018 or 11 days after VC announced Ed McCaffrey as their next head football coach at Valor Christian. Many will wait out the next 10 weeks to formulate an opinion. However, it is apparent many are dodging Valor on their schedule the next two seasons as the  Valor Christian Eagles 2018 Varsity Football schedule has 2 out of state teams and 2 4A local teams:
