Biggest storyline: Third year head coach will try to propell the Eagles to the State Championship. A soft start ended in a fast pace finish a tough loss to eventual state champions Pueblo South, 21-14. The clock is ticking as their QB is a senior and can chuck the ball and Torres can run it.

Names to watch this season: Steven Croell QB, Dylan Torres RB, Tyler Carpenter C, Ryan Capasso OL/DE, Zach Zerr ILB.

Biggest holes to fill: Like many depth on the offensive and defensive lines is an issue but some underclassmen should be able to step up. Also lost a top WR and RB.

Gonzo’s Early Take: The 4A classification has some tough teams and the Eagles will need to start fast. Broomfield opens with rival Legacy and the bolts have had their way in recent years. A consistent season is what is needed and the conference has some tough foes. We had Broomfield ranked #2 and the polls say 3 so not too shabby. It will be a season to regain a playoff berth and do not be surprised if some games come down to the leg of kicker, Matthew Eich. Broomfield should be in the mix come November and their season finale could be a playoff atmosphere.

#GONZOWATCHLIST to be featured in August Football magazine. List prepared for Spring evaluations.
